I was wanted to give riser (or flat) bars a try, just to check them out, but it seems that the clamp size for pretty much all riser bars is 25.4 or 31.8 (the mountain standard). Does anyone know of a riser bar I could buy/order that would fit my current stem's clamp diameter of 26.0?
I know I could just get a mountain stem for my fork (I have a Surly Steamroller threadless fork, 1 1/8), but I'd rather not buy a new stem AND bars, in case I hate riding with risers.
Shim. I used a Red Bull can.

Yeah... thought of that, but it sort of makes me uneasy since I'm a big guy (6'4", 225lbs) and I really put a lot of force onto my bars, especially when climbing. I'm afraid of the bars slipping. BUT, if there is no 26.0 clamp bar out there, then I guess a shim is the obvious cheap solution...
Don't worry about it. Or just drop the $10 on a Nitto shim.

Pop top stems work just fine with the smaller bars, because they dont close 100% even over 26.0. I have a few of them in quilled form...ITM, etc.

Fits perfectly, and I've climbed the crap out of them. 195lbs mostly muscle. No experience with the Nitto shim, but I've ripped the bars right out of a soda can shimmed stem, and that's with me seriously cranking the tightness.
I know i'm the master of tightness, because I've blown up cogs and lockrings by overtightening them by hand.
26.0 Pop-top quilled stems + 25.4 risers = TEH WIN.
I'm afraid of the bars slipping. .
shims keep engines together and hold up houses. itll be fine.
regarding the nitto shims; the same $10 will buy you several feet of z-flashing (the equivalent of a lifetime supply of shims for you and all your freinds;
