hello all. Ive been browsing these forums on and off for about a year now, and finaly got around to making an account. Ive gotten into bicycling over the last two years, mostly for fun and as secondary transportation. I also enjoy doing all of my own maintainance on my low budget road bike in my school's student run bike shop.

I go to school at New College in Sarasota Florida. Our student govornment funds maintanance and overhead costs of having a student volunteer run bikeshop on campus. The bikeshop does free repairs on student bikes, and can order parts for students at slightly cheaper than normal retail prices.

a GT zr5 Al frame with mostly stock parts (shimano sora). I like the stifness and responsiveness of the frame, but on more uneven streets and paved areas on campus it can be a bit painfull. I've jsut ordered a carbon seatpost and better padded saddle in order to smooth out the ride a bit.

Maybe you could make the ride comfier with fatter tires. I have foldable Bontrager X Lite Race 28 mm but they measure 26 mm wide.

I really like my current tires and they seem wide enough to me (continental ultra gatorskin 700x28c) my dorm is in the middle of a construction site and these tires have saved me from several puncture flats from road debris. I am replacing the stock saddle because it was painfully hard, poorly constructed and falling appart. I'm upgrading the seatpost because I got a pretty good deal on one through the campus bikeshop.
