I sprinkled in a bit of powdered unicorn horn and the ashes from a picture of a Liger that I drew then burnt in a scene reminiscent of the end of "To Live and Die in L.A."

Old six pack of Lone Star.
Read an article that his crew put alcohol in the fuel system. Guess alcohol is the epo of Nascar.

Looks like ol' Mikey's gonna miss the Daytona 500 for a second year in a row if his backup Camry can't keep up in the draft today...
NAPA's got to be severely P.O.'d. At least his commercials are entertaining....

I heard it was a component of jet fuel!? Funniest thing I have heard was an ex driver, current commentator stating " i don't know why they did that. we have all tried it and it does not work." If you are gonna cheat, at least cheat with something that works.

so, i don't follow NASCAR at all. can someone summarize what happened? he added some sort of illegal fuel additive to the car? how did they find out?

what I caught last night on ESPN: foreign substance found in the engine block (I imagine that stuff is inspected, NASCAR rules about the restrictor plates and stuff is VERY tight); the fines and indefinite suspensions and points deductions are the largest in NASCAR history. The crew chief is gonna (by now?) be fired.

Oh, and I did the old school thing: mothballs.

like in cycling they test your piss, they test the fuels among other things (car dimensions, weight, etc.) for anything against the rules.

Some NASCAR drivers were caught cheating... one used a "substance" which was found in the intake manifold during an inspection. Cheating is not new in NASCAR racing. One well known driver who is now a commentator, once used 300' of fuel line, coiled up in the trunk, to be able to carry more fuel than his opponents.

i assume they always pull the winners car apart and test it. do that do that with others? top 5, top 10, etc.?
it seems like a really stupid move and one that would almost surely backfire.
When the cars go through inspection, which is required, the carbaretor (sp), spacer, gasket and restrictor plate (if it is a plate race) are removed and the intake manifold is inspected. The inspector placed his hand into the intake manifold and found an oily substance coating the inside of the intake. It is a residue of a component in jet fuel and NASCAR says it worked its way into the manifold through fuel supply system.

Aside from the points taken away, the fines, the crew chief being suspended indefinitely, saying he might just pack it in for the weekend...
Mikey made the big race, anyway, during one of the dual 150's. Led a few laps along the way from what I understand.
I heard Floyd Landis pee'd in it.

I agree. Unfortunately, now that I have kids, I play with them during most races and stay up late to watch the race on the digital video recorder thinnee. Is it still legal to nap at 10PM?

I think a 10pm nap would be call bedtime! too late for napping. the official nap of NASCAR is at 1400 hours Sundays. My couch.
i will try to make it, and I will bring my own remote. hard to nap without holding the remote. it is a ritual of mine to get woken up by the sound of the remote hitting the floor as it falls out of my sleeping hand.

sounds like a nap date. you don't mind if the dog naps with you, do you? She'll make sure you don't lose that remote.

Yeah, NASCAR has some insanely strict restrictions on what's allowed and what's not.....down to the metal used in the engines....I forgot the exact wording, but the metal must pass the magnet test....they want iron/steel used in those engines.
It's hard to compare NASCAR to other motorsports, since they don't embrace the newer technologies like the other motorsports do. Nascar is the track cycling or the automotive world....around in a circle. Criteriums are closer to F1. Different sports for different folks.
NASCAR isnt just cup cars sheesh
they sanction all sorts of events and vehicles
