Introductions - I love the bicycle.
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello, I'm from Toronto Ontario and I just started biking again during the past summer. Since tuition fees and public transportation has sky rocketed, I took the initiative to start commuting on a two wheel vehicle which only costs 15 bucks to fuel, three times a day. I started off with my dadís old 1980 Peugeot Course, Simplex gear is an entirely new rant, and probably logged in several hundred kilometers on it. Itís time for a new bike!
P.S. Road bikes are fun :D
Road bikes are a lot of fun. Glad you're enjoying that old Peugeot. French stuff can be a handful if you aren't prepared for what you're getting into, but there are plenty of experts in C&V that will happily set you on the right track.

Hello omicron34, you must come visit us in Classic & Vintage (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=181), and perhaps we can change your mind about thinking it's time for a new bike.
Welcome to BF!

I can say one thing about it, the frame and pretty much everything else on it is bomb proof! The only components I've changed from it was the crank, due to accident :P...the front wheel, due to accident...and pedals...due to another accident that my dad got into 10 years ago :S

It would be lovely to replace the 6 speed cassette and rear derailleur.

Bicycle Mechanics for that! You still haven't come to visit us in C & V though...:( . We could probably help you with the 6 speed cassette and rear derailleur in C & V as well...

Follow Sheldon's instructions to spread the rear end and install a 7 (or more) freehub.
