LOL..The SPD SL seem to be popular, I am seeing more and more of them around, and everybody that I know says they love them. Personally, I have Time Impact S, which I think are great!

I think either pedal will serve you well, so I would look at price, and weight.

It depends of your pedaling style. Important for most people is the lateral movement of shoe on the pedal. This is important for knee articulation and injury free riding. The Look and the Time system both have adjustable or a maximum of 6 degrees of movenemt. Shimano has always been a very tight pedal in this regard. There are cleats availible for them which I hear allow for the lateral movement. Time just went through a major redesign and I didn't like the cleat system for the new system. I went to the Look pedal. Similar to the Time but with a more readily availible replacement cleat. They seem to work very well and I am very happpy with the Look. Like all pedals, they are a fussy to get adjusted properly. Shimano's set up easier. I would go with the Look.

Good point, the Shimano's aren't very adjustable.

actually...

most people I know (and including myself) say that the SPD-SL's 6 degrees float is VERY VERY smooth...

I find it too smooth infact - I'll get fixed next time.
