Foo - Cyclists in a hot tub, post ride?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
That's what showers are for!
Most of the people reading this are hot and sweaty and naked right now.

I'm gonna go ride my trainer and then hop in the hot tub!
Urm. Day-um. I forgot. I don't have a hot tub. <note to self, purchase and install hot tub, invite Foo>
Guess I'll just settle for a hot shower with an ice-cold Stella. :D
I don't know man, you talk about stellas so much VV. I kind of want to have one. What does it taste like? :D

I am going to ride my trainer as well then get a jet tub bath to relax then do some framing then I don't know what! If I had a hot tub I would bathe first then get in to relax.
Not so gross to me..............as long as it was me and all ladies:D
Besides... people have been doing this after a hard day's skiing for years and years. I never caught anything!

I don't think it sounds too bad, but I guess it depends on the people you are sharing a tub with.
Why wait until post ride to get in the tub?

I dunno. Depending on how many people Bgurl is riding with, it might get pretty cramped.
I'd suggest the hot tub. I'd also suggest not wearing clothes at all in the hot tub, as that's what traps a lot of the minerals left behind from evaporating sweat, as well as all that smelly bacteria.
Oh, and if the woman:man ration is above 1:1, pictures would be welcome. Especially after the first few bottles of wine are consumed.

Seriously...
This might already be my favorite thread of the month.

Doesn't the heat in the water kill anything that might be undesirable anyway?

This IS favorite thread of the month.
Bunch of hot sweaty teenage cheerleader zombie ninjas in a tub!

hot water will not even phase a teenage cheerleader zombie ninja.

I believe most bacteria can survive up to the boiling point of water.
Aren't hot tubs chemically treated to prevent the growth of bacteria, anyway?

Yeah, I would imagine the chemicals would do the trick.
Hot Springs out in nature, however, might have enough minerals present to inhibit bacteria growth.

I think volume would also have a bit to do with it. A hot spring is constantly refreshed and can't really build up a bacteria colony under normal circumstances, I would guess. A hot tub, on the other hand, is a closed system and could quickly become a cell-culture unless maintained. I know my parents' pool will sometimes turn bright green with algae overnight after a heavy rain. That's considerably larger than a hot tub.
But, anyway, weren't we talking about sweaty naked people in a tub?

Ahhhh good point! It's always better out in nature. :)
Yes. Hot, naked, wet people. (They aren't sweaty anymore since the water washed it away.) Time to break out the champagne!

that is one of the problems I have with hot tubs. Hot sweaty people do jump into them w/o a shower. Great place to breed who knows what.besides , is not chlorinated hot water bad on lycra.

I do the hot tub after every ride.
However house rule is shower before entering:
Also required is bringing at least two or three logs
as it is a wood burning version.

I led a winter night ride in Denver years ago. Well, many years ago. Four men and 4 women showed. All the women got custom needlepointed patches. Three miles in the snow and ice along the Cherry Creek path to a commercial hot tubbing place where I had reserved a big inside hot tub. The roof could be rolled aside so we watched the stars and snow flakes. I and the lady editor of the local Adult Lifestyle paper, The Rocky Mountain Oyster, skipped suits. The rest chickened out. When our time ran out I had to get rather brutal to get them back out into the pitch black snow filled night.

I'd probably want to rinse in cool water after a bike ride and before any hot tubbing. But naked in a hot tub? I didn't know there was any other way to be in one!

What's the big deal? It's just blood which has been filtered out to be salt water...

I know, but sometimes I black out if I don't cool off first. That's no fun.
Hey, no fair. I'm an old lady and she's a young girl. NO contest!:(
Don't worry girlfriend, I'd bury my face in it. :D
I'm naked, hot, sweaty and in a grocery store right now. Should I be in a hot tub?

Yeah, I get dizzy if I stay in the tub too long. I tend to run hot anyway, though.
