Enroute home tonite (car) I heard a term unfamiliar: The Alberta Clipper.
This is a weather pattern emanating from Alberta with a blast of very cold
air and light precipitation that will hit the central and mid western US next
24-48hrs with snow basically above I-40 and cold everywhere. So much
for a 120mi weekend. Canadians would laugh at starting temps in the mid
20sF peaking at 40F or so but for rides longer than 40mi it is too much in
central Alabama. This winter is much colder than past 3-4 yrs, we
usually are riding in 45-60F in Jan-Feb with occasional colder spells.
That is why the snowbirds are here. Not this winter except for an atypical
warm spell in early Dec.
