But he has plenty more posts then you. Leave him alone.
I can't belive i'm defending him but...he's less of a 'n00b' then you are.
not that your comment was directed towards me, but he also has more posts than me...and I've been here since 2003...
I gave my RedWing loggers, bought in 1984, to my brother. Resoled them three times.
Oldest regular use bike, '78 Trek 531 tubing, converted to fixed. Second oldest, '91 Yamaguchi track. I got a late 80s Haro MTB setup as a noslack single speed grocery getter but it mostly hangs.
My 1974 Raleigh Twenty is my oldest, but it's not exactly rideable.
As far as post count, I have over 11 thousand. All that means is I post a lot.

oldest bike I'm riding...195? Schwinn Cruiser that's getting a winter overhaul (hence the lack of tires)

Oldest bike I own [actually, my bike shop owns(but I own the shop)] 194? Schwinn built Excelsior (sorry, don't have a photo yet)
Oldest BMX: a Preditor like the one I owned in High School [but 2 years newer (mine was a 1987, this one is from 1989-ish)]...
...but who cares!?!

I didn't know they made men's boots. Gotta go with the Tim's.
i feel like if ugg really did make boots back in the day as ex suggests they would be extrmely durable, outdoorsy, and warm

Nope, just warm. I only wear them inside, when it's cold.

No offense Expat, but if I saw a guy walking down the street in Ugg boots, I would definitely have to make fun of him.

Just to let you all know that we finally made a purchase...a MirraCo Icon Option. After consideration we believed that this bike was the best fit for the money. It does have the three piece crankshaft, thicker axels for the option of adding on pegs later, and a steel chain tensioner. My son is so excited to get on it and take it for a ride this spring... now we just need to get rid of the snow.
Thanks so much guys for all of your great info and opinions even about the Ugg boots :)

Eh. I can't say I'm happy with your decision... but hopefully your son enjoys it and doesn't break too much on it.
agree with fit. but hey, he's young all that matters is that he has a bike
I hope your son enjoys it. Get some pictures of him riding it lol. Also here is a link to the bike i think he has if it is 07.

You might want to have the local shop check your sons forks some of the MirraCo completes had bad welds or lack of welds on the forks...

We did purchase it from the local bike shop. It was not the most highly reccomended, but for the money that we wanted to spend, it was defenetly the best pick. I think the bike will work out great. It is defenetly better than anything you would find at Wal-Mart.

What are you talking about? Have you actually seen a walmart bike, and the bike she got? Even a picture? I doubt you'd say that if you had...

Yes, I have and I did. I exaggerated an eency bit, but it's not that great of a bike, no matter what way you spin it.
Are you guys on crack? Most 7 year olds would kill for a bike like that. Name one item on there that's not suitable for this kid's purpose.

The 7 year old has a problem of breaking things. The parts on that bike aren't that difficult to break.

I forgot what... but one of the things he broke were rims.
MadMan2k
03-05-07, 08:55 PM
Most kids that age break rims by leaving it under a car's wheel, or hitting it with a hammer or something... if he likes the bike and treats it well, he won't break it by riding for a while.
I ran over my own bike once, lol. I just barely started to roll on it then I noticed, no damage. :) I'm 14 with my learners permit lol. I think the bike he got is a great bike for him.

True that. He got a nice bike. And it's only his first, if he gets into it more he can get whatever didn't come with it. It will be just fine for him.
I'm still worried about the forks though. Some of those bikes did have miswelds on the forks but i forget which model...

Well that's why you tell them what it means a day or two later after you've been using it and it's driving the person crazy.
