My dad just bought a carbon composite Trek 2300 road bike. It came with a seat bag, shoes, computer, and bike. Good deal for only $40. And its mine :).

I assume it's the 90's model with carbon main tubes with aluminium fork, lugs and back/chainstays. If so it's a fine frame. I still ride one (a 2120 - same frame but ir came with a triple).
Of course the fact that your Dad picked it up for $40 is depressing to me :(
I was hoping mine was becoming a valuable collector's item :mad: :mad:

Most excellent! It looks like it is in great shape. That is a real steal.
Check the frame carefully where the carbon meets the aluminium lugs. Any signs of whitish discoloration or delamination would be bad and could indicate imminent frame failure. This was a problem with some early carbon/alu Treks but your's is a later model so it is probably fine.
