Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Mods being hypocritical?

The last post by Mr. Smashy is what I would consider both hypocritical and an abuse of his mod authority.


Ever think you are pushing things a bit too far. Your posts will stay if you stop flaming people. As long as your flaming people, you're posts are going to keep getting deleted. You can either go by the rules, or leave for good. Those are your only two choices, no alternatives. So you take that ego of yours and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. It is rather unpleasant coming into here to find all of this flaming.

I don't claim to know the background behind this, but to see a Mod blasting someone for flaming, then say "... take that ego of yours and shove it where the sun doesn't shine" is pretty much the pot calling the kettle black. And then locking the thread? That's simply abuse of the mod power.

Delete the thread or posts in question, warn the user (or ban if that bad) and BITE YOUR eTONGUE!

For that particular outburst, Mr. Smashy owes the board an apology and Joe ought to take a close look at who he's giving power to on his board. Mods doing crap like this will drive people away from this or any board.

Skiah, this post was directed towards one Pete Fagerlin, who is an unwelcome guest on the forums. Joe is well aware of this.

Geeze, I guess I can't be human. Maybe I was a bit too grouchy, maybe I should have quoted. It was aimed at Pete Fagerlin. I did remove the part about the ego.

If any others(Other than pete) took it the wrong way, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to point it that way. I've tried to be nice with Pete, he doesn't listen. He doesn't respond to PM's, which forced me to be mean towards him in plain view.

I'm well aware of Pete's antics. From here and mtbr. I don't have any qualms with what you did in that respect.

My issue is the tone of your post. As a mod, you do have to hold a higher standard, because you do have the "power". Kind of like how police and military members have to live up to a higher standard.

As a mod, you can't be guilty of breaking the rules you're charged to enforce, no matter how how onerous the offender. That's my point.

I never mean to sound mean in my PM's, sometimes they just come off as mean.

Think of Mr.Smashy as the NYPD of mods. Mild mannered normally but he will break out a can o whupass if you interrupt dinner time.
