Anyone out there with experience on a Giant OCR tourer, did those brakes work for you? Did you love your Giant? I'm interested in purchasing one, so your wisdom will be used in cost/benefit analysis.

Thanks!

from everything i read if you want to use the giant for loaded touring you'll need to change the gearing.

That is definitely correct! I am getting ready to buy the bicycle and I am already looking at changing the gears. The gears are setup more towards racing, instead of touring, especially here in Tennessee where it is soooo mountainess. I just need to find out what gears to change to?

I got the Giant touring and after some fixing it works great. I put on an 11-32 XT cassette, XTR (I think M952 derailleur not 2003 stuff) and TA 48-38-24 chainrings. I think the gearing is perfect now. It gives me plenty of high, great low, and lots in between. I changed the cassette and derailleur first to see if that would do it. It was better but just today I got the new rings up and going and it is perfect. I do wish it came like that in the first place but I would still buy the bike again if I had to start over. The disc brakes work perfect and it is a very comfortable nice riding bicycle. All the components are pretty nice for the price and as long as it does not break in half or something crazy like that it should be good for me for many miles.
