ok, a while ago i posted on behalf of my friend who had her wheelset jacked. she works as a messenger, so she relies on her bike for her income. she's a very sweet person, and bad things just seem to keep happening to her...

her orange iro angus was stolen downtown on friday, i believe, and if anyone has any information, it would be much appreciated. my friend was in an accident involving a car, which actually broke her arm as i understand it, and while speaking to the driver and the police, trying to exchange information, the bike was stolen by some random ******* who had promised to keep an eye on it. totally an opportunity theft, so maybe the bike will show up somewhere obvious and dumb, like craigslist.

the bike has a YELLOW deep v in front and a BLACK deep v in the rear... both laced to black formula hubs, i believe. it has pake cranks, risers, and it may have electrical or some other kind of tape over the decals. the frame itself is ORANGE, but it may have been painted by the thief - who knows?

if you see anyone but a punk rock-ish girl with shoulder-length light brown hair riding this bike, THEY PROBABLY STOLE IT! take any action you deem necessary (for example, if you witness the bike being locked up, maybe throw a u-lock of your own around it once it is left alone?) or CALL ME - once again, my number is 508-728-1201... my name is john

sorry for the novel of a post, but i would really like to see my friend recover this bike, as she worked incredibly hard on a very ****ty conversion for a long time to afford it. she is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, and definitely does not deserve this sort of luck (not that anyone does) i'm sure she would be happy to offer a reward for its return (or any of its parts)

thanks for taking the time to read through this!

You're a good friend. How about I stick a pitbull's leash attached to a mini-U around their neck?

not a GREAT idea to just throw your number out there. PM would do just fine.

just don't want you to start getting hassled by some *******.

i'll keep my eye out.

I'm far away in Philly but I'll keep my eyes peeled just in case. That really, really sucks... People have no morals anymore these days.

thanks for keeping your eyes out, everyone

as for my phone number, i'm more than willing to get a few prank phone calls if it could help kari get her bike back... i put it up in the hopes that people will put me in their cell phone, so they can call me right when and if they see the bike... the more immediate the tip, the faster i can get in touch with kari or get to the scene myself.

thanks everyone

and guerillaidiom - were you previously a messenger in boston? a dude in one of your myspace photos looks an awful lot like a guy i have met here who rides for marathon. that would explain why you know kari...

Sorry for the bump of this old thread.

I just bought an Orange IRO Angus off Craigslist that I'm picking up tonight. I test road it this afternoon and it certainly didn't have the wheelset you describe or any of the pake parts and, in fact, had a well broken in brooks saddle the seller was particularly tied to. I trust the seller as well, as he ended up being someone I went to HS with.

I did check for it though. Hope she's had some luck since our last update.

wait, is this kari who worked for city express last summer? that's horrible! what's up with the car accident, is she ok? is she back on her old conversion? man, that thing was worse off than MY old conversion...

i'll keep my eyes peeled around this neck of the woods for it.

I saw that on craiglist. Almost thought about getting that myself.
