hello all, i ended up here after i started interest in fixies. i live in portland and my bike is my car. i have recently got rid of my khs brentwood (no good) as it was falling apart so i fixed it and sold it. as replacements i got a kona dew (hybrid), put my crate on it and use it as my main commuter, and just this weekend got a fuji 197* road bike, really sweet ride. i am joining this forum to learn how to set up a fixie, as of now i am searching for a frame, i think ill keep my fuji as it is for now. i hope to learn and share experiences here, peace

Hey phylum,
Welcome. I thought fixed gear riders were nuts as I first experienced them in Central Park New York City.
I soon fell for them though after travelling out to Kissena Velodrome in Queens to watch a friend race.
I have raced / riden fixed gear bikes for the last fifteen years!!! Although last year I bought a new road bike as the team I was working support for pretty much required I race road too. Lots of good info here but take it all with a grain of salt. I own four track bikes, two road and one mtb but I ride my fixed EVERYWHERE! :o)
Enjoy yourself..

Hello phylum,

You've got plenty of company there in Portland. Check out the Pacific Northwest (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=237) regional forum. I expect you've already found the Carfree Living and Commuting forums, so don't hesitate to share any tips or ideas with us!

Welcome to BF!
