ew.
I love ads that give you no idea what they are for. Target seems as good a guess as any, but unless they are starting a line of tri-spoke carbon wheels, I have no idea what they are trying to sell me.

Is it just me or is that a computer generated (ie. drawn) image? The rider looks like a character from a video game.

hehe, maybe he&bike are not covered in logos because no track/bike/related manufacturer could figure out why the hell they would want to associate with Target either.
(cause Target sucks)

yeah, i'm wondering what if anything in that ad can actually be purchased at target. not curious enough to go to one though...

I find that Target has a good price on Haagan Daz ice cream, so they are okay in my book.
I like any billboard with a bike on it. It is better than a stupid SUV ad.

hmm, actually that bike might be an example of what should be a minimum expectation in a bike with gears & brakes, although it'd still be good for a novice to get a bike mechanic to assemble it
For monstrosities, always turn to the FS bikses, below a hundred bucks are the best

That ones got the cool linear-style handbrakes, they can only be found at box stores & usually come with the very useful advisory "For stopping or slowing down" in case you mistook it for the throttle.
they dont have to advertise any product in the ad
just the pushing the brand is enough
it certainly worked on you peeps
only took a red circle

but was it their objective to remind us they suck & only sell cheap throwaway stuff & nonfoods? Way to go Target! Maybe it's to keep fit people out of the store because we make the regular customers all self conscious :D

Maybe its actually an ad from the Japanese NJS body to annouce that gaijins are going to be allowed to race regularly. But only on timed single rider events, because gaijins mixing with the national racers would be disgusting. Plus they have to be plastered with Japanese colours and circles and are disallowed from showing any facial expression.

Well a lot of track riders dont wear socks and track sprinters almost never.

Am I the only one who sees a Pista in that ad?

Target typically hires a lot of graphic designers right after graduation. Where else do you see more fixies other than an art school? The classes I took, a lot of teachers suggested gearing your projects after large companies, mainly target.
will a mod please move this thread to the track section?
thx

That's funny since the Bianchi Pista was designed as a pure track racing machine from the get-go. That was over 15 years ago. When did it not become a track bike?
*puzzled*
[edit] I like the ad, for the record. It would be a little unsettling if Madison Ave. (irony?) was working extra hard to get the jeans just right and the bag/bike/rider "authentic" (authentic marketing---more irony??).
But it's just some dude on a short track. Just looks cool. Better than Joe Camel's penis-nose looking down on me, I guess.

Those shoes look like clogs.
Those bars are killing me. Would it have killed them to have used b123's?
Gotta say, I like it better than this ad:

which ad?
why lie. i actually really like the ad. its looks like a pista frame(thats been said).
i dont get the hate. its close enough to appreciate, but not so close where you know the fixed thing has jumped the shark. jesus christ, so many people are worried about things not being cool anymore. just make sure you keep riding your bike, thats how you keep "ownership" over the culture.

i'm with you on that, 100%... it was just ironic to me because of the cost involved, not the function. i.e., that wheelset (whatever make) would cost multiple times more than the complete bike.

I'll forgive the condescending attitude, and you'll have to forgive my ignorance here, but I still don't 'get it'. I can see that socks are slippery if you're walking up and down the boards, but beyond that? Do track racers have feet that don't perspire in heat or get chilly in the cold? Do they all have stanky ass shoes? Are they concerned an inch of lyrca around their ankles is going to slow them down? I have just as little need for socks in my every day life but I wear them because they are comfortable and hygenic...
