What kinda tools do you like?

well its my job, but I really dig the single use tool, like most of mine, which also double as a hammer, varying weights, and persuasive results.

any tools, bike ones especially....haha

i dunno, the tools that let me fix what i need to fix, and then have some fun opening stuff im not supposed to open, and anything like that. i also like having everything neat, and having the right tool for the job [two things that i have never figured out how to accomplish yet]

the tools have to be quality too, they cant be some dollar store crap. they have to be nice, which means allen wrenches that dont strip, [wiha, and one more, but im spacing out on the name]

basically i just like tools, powertools are mad fun to play with, but i dont like them as much as nice hand tools

I sold tools at Sears for a couple of summers. Great job. We didn't have every tool you could think of, but we had a lot of nice ones. Craftsmen, Dewalt, Makita, Fluke, Visegrip, Jet, etc. During the slow times you could (and were encouraged to, so as to be knowledgable) walk around the department and learn what you could about each tool: what is was for, how to use it, how it compared to similar tools. I admit, Craftsmen aren't the best hand tools I've had the chance to use, but they are darn good, and you can't beat the warranty. I've just barely started my collection.
Unfortunately we didn't have any bike-specific tools. We did of course have sockets, screwdrivers, allen wrenches, metal-working and painting tools (if you're that hardcore), and sledgehammers (ok, maybe not the best tool for adjusting XTR components :D )

You mean like the small tool kit you take along to the trail head just in case you -- or a fellow cyclist -- needs to tweak something?

Look again. I've highlighted its location. There's a chain whip behind it and a Shimano HG cassette removal tool next to it. If you look really close you'll even see a set of verneer calipers in there somewhere. In fact, there's even a two-pin and a four pin SunTour freewheel removal tool in there. That pink thing is the actual "Pink Card" that comes with an 8spd. Forster SuperLink II. Actually, this could be like one of those Sunday AM comic page "hokus pokus" things where the person who correctly identifies all the tools wins a lame prize.... the satisfaction of a personal victory.

The headset press, race setter and other really cool peg-board tools stay at home most of the time. Taking those along all the time would REALLY be dorky.

I have a huge set of Craftsman tools, all organized in a nice Craftsman catalog. They work great for what I do, and the warantee is great, although I've never need to use it. I also have a cheap bike specific toolset that I bought for 40 bucks from pricepoint.

tools like those livingood posted remind me of the dentist :D

I'm more for bigger tools that are easier to find when I lose them. I'm a chronic loser. (in the sense that most of what I own I lose at one point or another)

Snap-On and Park for hand tools.

IR for air tools.

DeWalt for cordless.

"Tools"-I have them all.

i would show a pick of my tools but well its embarasing! ive got em all ( all over they place) but i would have to say the best tool in the world is the leatherman wave ! by far my most used tool!

I have a hammer, and I really love using it.

I dunno I have a love hate relationship with tools. I have made a living in some way shape or form for the past 18 years with tools, so I wish sometimes I had learned other trades.

My favorite thing, is a spoke wrench and a truing stand.

I've got quite a collection of tools, and enjoy being able to work in my shop without interruptions. I just hate it when I'm right in the middle of a project and have to stop, then figure out where I left off.

Love tools and Tool. I do 90% of the work on my cars and bikes so I need new tools all the time. Just bought an air compressor and will start my collection of air tools soon. Need a paint gun first to spray some new panels for my truck. I may have to paint one of the bicycles, too. Nothing better than having the right tool for the job and nothing beats the satisfaction of a job well done that you were able to do all by yourself. I find that the quality of my work is usually better than so called professional mechanics even though it may take me a little longer to get it done.

Now wait a sec. What if you NEED to replace a friends headset at a trailhead? You probably don't take a puller with you either.
Sorry about the torque wrench, I though it was an ordinary ratchet at first glance.

I love tools of all types. Cycling, power, wood working, and electricians. I don't care much for plumbing tools, for some reason they are all ugly and seem poorly made.

Hey Livngood, Where'd you get all those tools?

I have the hardest time finding cycling tools at bike shops. I tried to get an older BB tool Friday. I went to four bike shops and no one had one.

Home Depot, LBS, Mail Order, Bro-deals, etc...

Keep in mind, you're looking at a collection that's been refined over 20 years. The real trick is finding tackle boxes that can handle the weight and that will hold various sizes of tools, tires, tubes, lubricants and MSP.

If you need "odd" tools check with Harris Cyclery, Third-Hand Tools, Mt. Airey/College Park Cyclery, etc...

I like tools, but I don't break enough stuff to use them very often. Sadly.

That one I have learned. I have all my tools in two tackle boxes from Wally's world, they work great.

Nashbar, Performance and Price Point just to name a few have a good selection of Park and Pedro's tools.
