I am trying to answer a question about whether or not ferrets (willing) swim.
Ferret owners/past ferret owners--do you take your babies for swims? Say, have you ever thrown them in the bath tub? Pool? Large body of running water?
I have tried to research this, and just can't come up with the answer. I would guess that ferrets are not like mink or otter, but more like weasels and skunks when it comes to mustelids hitting the water.

Devil Woman is a former ferret owner. She said a qualified yes... it depends on the animal. She had one she couldn't keep out of the bath tub while another one wanted nothing to do with water.
Our rats are the same way. We had one that loved to go outside and play in the fountian. She would climb up to the top of the fountian then dive about a foot or so in to the pool below, while we had another little girl that would scream bloody murder when we tried to bathe her. She would also scream when we clipped her nailtips too.
Most of them are kind of ambivilant about the whole thing.

Years ago I had one of those infernal "Electric Slinkies With Feet" She used to pull the drain cover outta the shower and back down the drain on hot days...when I would step into the shower and turn on the water she would come up outta the drain like a pissed off Dremel tool! My ankles never forgave her!! Never found out if she could swim, she HATED water!

Ferrets are funny little creatures. I have never had one but have had friends with them and they are entertaining.

So, so far there's two ferrets who hate water, one who loves water.

So, four ferrets against, one for.
It's looking as if ferrets in general don't much like mucking about in water.
