Road Cycling - Posting pictures??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

View Full Version : Posting pictures??

Not being particularly savy about all this I have a few questions about how to post pictures (people actually said they wanted to see my bike!) and how to post a picture or graphic by my name.

The instructions say to post the URL to the picture. Does that mean I have to have a web site or have the picture posted on the Net somewhere, or is it a link to the location on my hard drive??

I told you I was ignorant about this stuff!!!

Thanks...Bill

You may need to shrink your images down before posting them with Photoshop or the like. After downsizing them (if necessary) go into "File" and then click on "Save for Web". It's very simple.

I have sized my image correctly (800x600), selected it from the browser under manage attachments and clicked insert image but I still can't get it to show up. When I preview the post the image it doesn't show up, all it shows is [IMG]. When I looked this up on help it said to do the following [IMG] (value) [IMG], I assume that value is the name of the image, tried it to, didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe your image is not in one of the allowable file types:
jpg, gif, or bmp.

Try saving the photo you want to use as a jpg extension, and then follow the instructions posted above.

It is a jpg and the file size is only 69kb. Humpf!

Harry,
If you are going to run a test then at least put up some sexy bike photos. :)

Oh, I dunno. After a few beers, that pic could look like a Jamacian Ganja field :D

click manage attachments
click browse
select file
click open
click upload
click close
submit thread/reply
(the 'upload' part is easy to miss)

p.s. ffr, click 'search the forums' and do a keyword search on any topic (ex.: how to post pictures) and you'll find info or answers for just about anything....

I also struggled, then found a different part of this forum with some helpful threads. Through this one I was able to figure it out:

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=86968

I found this by going to the "Forum Jump" at the bottom right of the screen, the going to the one that says "Forum Suggestions and User Assistance".
