Specifically from Quebec to downtown? Anybody been on it real recently?

I drive past the trail at Monaco, and from what I can tell it's clear, but I haven't ridden it....

I ride it on the way home from Downing to the Platte. There are several spots covered with slow melting glaciers but they are few and far in between. Said locations are still rideable. Maybe just a few feet or less of junk to ride over.

I'm not too concerned with the University to downtown portion, as that section I can either see is clear or is in full sun most of the day so should be mostly clear. Univ to Holly & Monaco to Quebec is right next to trees & walls, so it likely sees very little sun.

Maybe I'll walk it from the mall to be sure.

Well, I walked the entire section from the mall to Monaco. It's better than I thought it would be. There are only 2 sections where it would be smart to get off the bike due to snow/ice: one in Glendale at the park and one block past Monaco toward Quebec. Also, under Colo Blvd, there is a lake about 2 inches deep covering the entire path for about 15 feet. About every 50 meters the entire way there is water running side to side from melting snow. It would certainly be a mess at this point to be riding. I saw only a few bikers, all with reverse skunk stripes up their backs.

I think next week I will get the commuter bike back on the road after a 2 month+ hiatus.

I've actually become quite adept at riding on ice. :p
Also, Denver's bike routes are quite nice. I've been using D11 for my commutes even after the platte and cherry creek defrosted. If I were you and if I did have the choice of a street bike route, I would take it over a path. That being said I use the platte to get down into denver from Thornton. My alternate street route is a wee bit stressful.

I rode it from downtown to Cherry Creek Reservoir, on 2/22 and 2/23. There was a lot of ice under Iiliff, but otherwise the path is in good shape. In the afternoon there are plenty of wet spots from the melting snow, so fenders might not be a bad idea.

Here I was thinking you Denver guys were real tough, then I looked at the weather for Denver, you are like in a heat wave compared to us in SLC.
We are supposed to see 50s this week.

eh? Last week didn't top freezing a good portion of the week. Friday was 20F in the am with snow. The return ride was 28F with a nasty wind from the west. Still managed almost 60 miles that day.
The next week looks wonderful. 60s! Morning lows above or at freezing! Shorts weather. :)

It will snow and freeze several more times this year. Leave the studded tires on and stop worrying. (from a former Denver resident)

Studded tires? No such luck for me.

Besides I think they won't help much with our deep and wet late winter \ early spring snow storms.
