Very Nice, thanks! I always enjoy window shopping :)

Went to its web site and the wheels will not be available until "the 2008 season", whatever that means.

Everyone knows that raw silver aluminum is weaker than fancy color anidozation. Duh. Thats why the frames of the 1990s were indestructable:p .

According to the FAQ, although it looks like a 2-cross spoke pattern, it actually is a 3-cross.
Why the two cross spoke pattern? Isn’t a three-cross stronger?
While visually our wheels have two crosses, technically they are a three-cross pattern. Three-cross has been the standard for hardy wheel builds since time immemorial. The spokes of an Industry Nine wheel actually cross where they are threaded into the hub. Combine this feature with a fairly large flange width, and our wheels again achieve the best of both worlds – laterally and torsionally stiff.

Hopefully rational folks won't be buying your book, if they're looking for facts.

well i guess that means that the Ritchey comp wheels on my Cyclocross bike with non bladed spokes, a 20 spoke radial front, and a 24 spoke 2-cross rear are going to explode when I race them again

Is this your bike? That wheel is solid. No flexy for you.

All I can say is please don't judge them UNTIL you have tried them. I have the mtn wheels (26 and 29) and they are by far the stiffest wheel I have ever ridden off-road (in 15 years of riding). You don't have to take my word for it. Google around and you will find similar opinions.
Not I9's, but don't let the pros know how much their wheels flex. There may be a riot.

what happens if you bust a spoke???
euroford
02-26-07, 08:22 PM
same thing as with any other wheel. you um... replace it.
what happens if you bust a spoke???
You can't fix it. Nope, not a chance. No, you can't just call I-9 and get a replacement spoke, drop it in, true it up and be done with it. Nope, not possible.

That's correct. I take care of their broken-spoke turn in program. All Industry9 wheels with a broken spoke must be sent to me for proper disposal.

Now if only they'd make a fixed rear hub that way for me. Oh so nice.

They ship with spare spokes. They are way easier to replace than regular old spokes and nipples (I've built four wheels up so far).
Customer service can ship you a spoke quite quickly if you needed one in a pinch, although I'm not sure they can always get any color out to you quickly. Try ordering just one Mavic spoke for the XMax wheels.
Track wheels? A lot of people have been requesting them. They are probably pretty far down the road as they are turning their attention to the (much larger) road market next.

I already have awesome wheels for all of my bikes except my track bike. When I first saw the I9 wheels, I looked to see if they made track wheels. Oh well.
I'll probably want a new set of wheels for my roadie eventually. Definitely looking at the I9 wheels, even though they're flexy ;)
