I'm looking for replacement of my tripple crankset with a compact double. The current "favorite" is Ritchey WCS 50/34 crankset.

But I'm confused. The spec sheet for this crankset says that I need a compatible BB, and that is Shimano Octalink 109.5 mm. A quick search for this BB returned that the BB is "9-speed compatible". I thought that crackset has nothing to do with 9-speed/10-speed compatibility (and my bike has 10 speed cassette). So, do I need a "10-speed compatible" BB or a "9-speed compatible" would work fine?

They say that because the Octalink Shimano BB was introduced as part of the 9 speed groups. It'll work fine with any setup as long as your crank is Octalink.
