Southern California - last chance century: Sun, Feb 25

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Looks like we'll be doing La Jolla--San Clemente--La Jolla.
So I haven't done my February century yet, and this coming Sunday (Feb 25) looks to be my last chance. Anyone else in the same boat and want to ride a flat-ish century route together at a relaxed pace? I'm flexible as to our choice of starting location or route. If I get an OC-area ride partner, the Burrito Century route is a possibility. For a SD-area start, I was thinking maybe up and down the coast.
By the way, right now, the weather forecast is looking pretty good.
[EDIT]Ride details:
Start at Doyle Park (same start as the San Diego 200k brevet), rolling at 7 AM. No official route slip, but the general plan is to ride up the coast, through Pendleton, to San Clemente, turning around at 50 miles and heading home.

This would work for me. I was thinking of going on Saturday, but Sunday would work too. La Jolla up the coast to San Clemente and back?
I want to emphasize the "flatish" and "relaxed" part. This will essentially be my first ride since breaking ribs 2+ weeks ago.
La Jolla--San Clemente--La Jolla works for me.

I still need my Feb century too. I've been going back and forth between wanting to head to Long Beach for the final day of ToC and getting the century ride in. I may be up for riding with you guys...
Join us, Tiff. :D We'll have a great time.

The only thing holding me back from going is the winner will pretty much already be determined. Hmmmm.... crowds of thousands or a ride then dinner at Rock Bottom with the company of Jason, Dan and anyone else who will be coming along????
Jason, I don't think it'll take much for me to be convinced. I'll just need to see that I can work out being gone all day. :)

Not only will Jason buy you dinner, but the identities of all the Letter Girls will be revealed! You can see ToC reruns on TV - this you can only see in person.:D
Hot, sexy, lycra clad men to ogle over...probably drenched in sweat and looking supah-fine...is there even a choice? ;)

:roflmao: OMGoodness I feel so loved... and being pulled on like a rag doll. :D I can't do a century on Friday. Well, I could.. but I really don't want to ride 100 alone.
Seeing hot, sexy, lycra clad men drenched in sweat and lookin' supah-fine is what's been holding me back from making a decision. :D
I like George's idea about riding there and getting my century in at the same time, too!!! Ugh, what to do, what to do...

Dan, do you happen to have a route slip (either on paper or in your mind) for this route? Or will I have to come up with something?

It's all in my mind :D
Really just ocean on left for 50 or so miles, ocean on right for 50 or so miles. The only real choice to make is I-5 vs Pendleton.

That's way over my head. I think I'll need someone to explain that one. :p

I need to do a century this weekend also, but unlike you I HATE to drive, so heading down to SD, even to ride with you, is out of the question unless someone wants to drive me. :)
Tiff might be able to drive you. :)

I'm game for a sunday ride, where is the starting point? and Time?
Umm, Dan, where are we starting? If you don't care, I'll propose Doyle Park as a possibility.
As for time, I figure a 7 AM start gives us plenty of time to do this ride at a relaxed pace and to even eat lunch somewhere along the way if we so choose.

what ever happened to the palomar century on saturday? Just wondering....... anyhow, this will be a good ride to break in my new shoes, I've only used them twice soo far and I got them at the beginning of the month!!!
Last I heard, it was on, but I can't make it this Saturday, so I'm planning a Sunday ride. That and I'm not so sure I'd survive a hilly century right now. :o

yah i havn't touch my bike in a while so I'm sure the hills would kick my butt too, but about 40% of the back half is either DH or flat. so it's like having easy miles added on. I want to go fishing at least one day this weekend and get on the bike the other.

As an alternative, how about the Burrito Century, round 2, on Saturday? Mel and I are strongly considering doing it. We will probably leave from Irvine Amtrak around 6:45am.
Anyone up for that?

I would love to Matt but unfortunately I can't ride on Saturday. My son's baseball team will be playing the first game of the season during their opening ceremonies, and I definitely can't miss his first Majors game!
Enjoy the ride... that's a great route!

We're doing it, Jason, but on Saturday. Sunday won't work for us, unfortunately.

Cole,
Thanks for the offer and normally that would be great , but my mom died this morning so I won't get a century ride in this month. I'll probably ride this weekend, but just out on the SART to clear my head. Enjoy the ride, and give Jason a hand shake for me.

I sort of went and made other plans for Sat because when Frank said his back was hurt I guess I assumed that meant the ride was cancelled. :o I'll be checking out the ToC w/Nosra, Tiff, Pico, etc. on sunday.
