What is the toughest thing you had to wait for? How long? And was it worth it?

I know, I know. Patience. I have patience. But waiting gets to me after a while. Just a few more days...:)

On the bike front, I had to wait four months for my rig to arrive. That seemed like a long time.

You don't wait for love. You go out and take it! And if it doesn't wanna give, you bury it in the woods with all the others!

Like a vulture. Waiting, watching and timing everything just right. Picking at my true honest nature. Taking advantage of my naivete, little by little, bit by bit. Eating, tearing away at what is left of my innocence.

Oh wait. What do you do for a living again? :p

If my diet consisted solely of what's left of your innocence, I would be a Clydsesdale-Emeritus on my way to Nicole Ritchey look-alike status in record time.

As for my profession, it has a long, colorful history, being the second-oldest one and all. And it really is the 95% of the lawyers out there that give the rest of us a bad name.

Melvin Belli. The jerk who claims to channel Joe DiMaggio. Most Congressmen and Senators. And so on, and so on, and so on . . . .

Okay, that's the bull-bleep, glib answer. The Reader's Digest version of the real answer is that there is nothing wrong with being a lawyer: I know some folks who are both very good lawyers and very good people. There's just something wrong with me being a lawyer, at least in private practice, and I can't seem to be able to get it together to do something about it . . . .

Lucy?

My Reader's Digest response: after law school I veered in another direction with a different degree. I didn't even take the bar exam for a few years. Now I'm looking to return to the field, unless bikingshearer scares me off again.

Baybuh, I have nothin' agin' anyone who's had to go through the hay-ul of gettin' a professional license for anythin'. We engineers have to do it, too, ya know. Over two day-long exams, four years apart....

Ohh, talk to me VV. :) In what area would you practice? I'm always intrigued by other prof's who had to put the prof license on hold, as did I. I'm very curious about your aspirations. And don't let BSer intimidate you. He's a swell guy. :D

Only if you want to be scared off. It really depends on your personality and what kind of practice you want to go into.

<tappin' watch, holdin' out for VV to see> Whaaa?! It's not so late! Hm. Well, maybe it is, on East Coast....

mmkay. I expect to see you here for explanation duty first thing in the morning. (The "'splain Lucy" ref, BTW, was from old "I Love Lucy" shows where the Cuban-born Ricky Ricardo often said to his wife (in real-life, also) Lucy that she "had some 'splainin' to do." And with a nice Cuban accent, too.)

For the car to be paid off......

Last time, I got screwed. I got my 2nd dog about 3 months before I finished paying off my Infiniti I-30. I realized instantly (after 1 trip) that two greyhounds in the backseat of an Infiniti (or any sedan style car) was NOT going to work.

I had to do what I HATE to do. I had to go out 2 months before paying off my car and trade-in for an SUV.

Now....how long before I pay off the SUV.....2 years down, 2 years to go.
