Introductions - Hello from bay area, CA

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello Friends,
I found this forum very useful and informative
and wanted to join in and be a part of this community.
I ride a '99 Schwinn Peloton. Got onto my first road bike last year and this is my second season. The weather is just getting nice here in the bay area and am hoping to have a good season this year.
Thanks.

Sweet another one from the Bay area! Welcome! I am now making the unofficial claim that the Bay Area makes up the largest group of people on Bikeforums. Feel free to dispute the claim. ;)
Where abouts are you? There is a good group of us from South Penninsula/San Jose.

From the south bay and usually ride on Foothill Exp...
One attempt at Mt Hamilton last year drained me completely, so I would like to start working on some hills this season.
Hey San Mateo here! Welcome!!a
Skiwolf,
Welcome aboard. Sounds like you're in my neighborhood! I live in Cupertino and usually head north of Foothill up toward Woodside/Old La Honda/King's Mtn or southward to Mt. Eden/Redwood Gulch/Hwy 9.

Welcome! When I lived in Mountain View and worked in Belmont, I used to commute along Foothill regularly, but at first never really went into the foothills or mountains to the west. Eventually, though, I decided I wanted to add hills to my cycling life, and started poking around. The nice thing about Foothill Exp (and its extensions, Junipero Serra Blvd and Alameda de las Pulgas) is that there are miles of great routes with excellent climbing just off it. If you want advice on ride routes to work on your climbing, I'm sure SteveE, Sailguy, me, and many of the other Peninsula/South Bay riders could come up with suggestions if asked.
Also, one of the fastest ways to learn fun routes through the Santa Cruz Mountains is to join a club like Western Wheelers. After I joined, in a very short period I was introduced to a variety of ways to get up to Skyline, or get over to the coast (or to avoid Skyline, etc.), and so on.
Looks like our late, wet Spring is ending!

Sweet. Mountain View here. I commute to Los Gatos by bike. Foothill seems to be my main route to get to anything north, and when I want to go over Mt. Eden on my way to work in the morning.
So when are we going to get the Bay Area Bike Forums Jerseys?

Thanks guys for all your input.
I'll look into joining some riding club this season.
