Introductions - Howdy from DC
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hey, just wanted to introduce myself. Been in DC for a few years at school, originally from Texas, soon to Charleston. I'm still riding the bike I got for Christmas in 5th grade (great urban commuter, and no one wants to steal it, see below), but just ordered one of the Dawes bikes from eBay (I know it's not going to stand up to some of your $10,000 bikes, but it's a big step up from my 36 pound bulletproof behemoth), see how much I like real biking for fun rather than just for transportation, hoping I like it a lot!

Hello grsing, it's good to see that you are already a dedicated commuter! You should have fun with the Dawes, it'll help you enjoy the road cycling for fun. Oh, and check out the regional forums, there's quite a few members in all those places you named.
Welcome to BF!

THeres a another thread called "Howdy all From DC" too that was started in spring of 05, and its got about 10 replies to it. There are plenty of us here, as there should be! I mean, theres 6.2 million people within a 50 or so mile radius of downtown Washington D.C. (not including Baltimore) so there should but lots of us on here too! :)
