For those with actual experience (own, or have ridden several times), what is your opinion of the new 2003 XTR STI style shift/brake levers?

I didn't want to say they "suck", but I don't see the benefit. I will NOT have any on my bike moreso because I like my Hayes disc brakes and the levers are NOT compatible. Even if they were, I like seperate components. I would hate to crash and break a lever, and then realize I must replace the whole shifter/lever at about $200 vs. a $40 lever only! Or versa vice, I blow up the shifter and can't stop!

Even with my regular shifters I had seperate shifter pods. I don't see the advantage of integrated lever/shifters. Weight? Not a big difference when you consider cost of replacement.
