How do you like them, stiff? Comfortable? Any problems with them so far?
Also, Deda states that it will only fit 1 1/8" steerer tubes but I'm wondering if I can use a 1" shim from another stem to make it fit a 1" steerer. Any comments on if it will affect the integrity of the stem/bar?

I have a synapsi bar on my new bike since 2 months, and i REALLY love it.
It looks cool, it's very comfortable, partly due to it being carbon and partly because of the ergonomics. e.g. the handlebar part closest to the stem is flattened, and thus very comfortable to put your hands, and have a good grip while riding hard.
The drops are also good to hold, although i would have liked them to be (even) more ergo shaped..
The triangle is nice to have also, i've mounted my polar bikemount in the top of the /\ and this even leaves enough room to be able to grip the sides of the triangle.
The only 'problem' i have with the synapsi is that it's a ***** to put bartape on. Now matter how you wrap the thing, it still looks rather ugly.
But i'm not really bothered by it (i was bothered by it when i saw my bike with the wrapped handlebar for the first time, but that feeling was gone after the first ride).
So to be short, i really like the bar, and would not even think twice about getting another one if i had another bike :)
Can't help you with the 1" shim question though...
