I would like to get my husband a nice bike for his birthday... what do you think about this one that I found on craigslist... http://charlotte.craigslist.org/bik/282554473.html He will mostly be riding in the neighborhood with me... but I don't want to spend our hard earned money on junk. Thanks!

These are good all-around bikes. If it is in good shape and if it fits your husband. (And fit is a really important aspect. In my opinion, the most important.)

By the way, my husband is 6'3" tall and 210lbs.

The only way to know for sure is for him to try it out, but I think that an 18.5 inch frame is too small for him.

I agree, that frame is probably too small for him. Here's a suggestion, just make him a nice card that enititles him to spend up to X dollars on a bike of his choosing, that you both can shop together for at LBS, garage/yard sales and online.

"Size - 18 1/2 inches from the mid bottom bracket to top of frame where seat post attaches " - That will be too small for him but the only way to find out is him trying it.

The ride should be confy, it's CroMo but my main concern will be the size.

It is too small for him, period. A 21" to 23" will be more in the range that he needs. (more likely the 23")

I'm 6'0" and was fitted at the bike shop for a 20" bike, so yes, I would think that the 18 1/2 inch bike is way too small.

I'm 5' 10.5" and ride a 21". most people say it's too big but i like it. I'd recommend not buying a bike for him without riding it. especially used, if it's the wrong size there's no return policy.

You could do what i did when i wanted to buy my wife a bike. we made it like she was gonna buy it, she test rode several, decided on one, got it all tuned up for her size/weight, then at the register they said the total and i slipped my card out of my wallet earlier, while she was digging in her purse i swiped my card and my pin. when she looked up they gave her the receipt, i said "happy birthday". the clerk said "oh it's your birthday? pick a trail mix bar, on us!"
