Greetings.

Anyone have experience touring on Maxxis OverDrive tires (http://www.maxxis.com/products/bicycle/product_detail.asp?id=225)?

The company literature on this product claims they are "created to meet the demands of the European trekking market." Perhaps there are some Europeans out there who may be able to verify the claim for this curious North American.

I'm specifically interested in the durability of the 700x38c size, especially with regard to longer distances on pretty crummy road surfaces. Thinking about replacing the WTB NanoRaptors on my 29" rims for something a bit faster-feeling, yet still able to withstand the rigors of 10+ mile L.A. commutes, longer (30-60 mile) weekend rides, and shorter (150ish mile) tours.

Thanks in advance for sharing.

I've put them on my cyclocross/commuter/touring bike and like them quite a bit. They roll well, are much lighter than any "marathon" tires at 550g and in my opinion suitably durable for lighter road touring. The only flats I've suffered were from inner tube failures due to stretching - the tubes I've used were for 18-23 tires.

Thanks, MrPolak, for your input.

May I ask how many miles you have on your pair of OverDrives? How are they wearing?

Also, I'm wondering how these tires perform in wet conditions as well as on hardpack, fire-road type unpaved surfaces...
