I never thought I would be this type of aunt. Oh well! I am. She's the neatest thing since double sided tape.

She doesn't really look like me. But one day, she will kick ass like me.

Holding a sleeping baby is one the most incredible highs known to mankind. Holding them at 3 a.m. when they are screaming for no apparent reason and every fiber of your being is demanding sleep is another story . . . .

But the time like you have pictured more than make up for it. And it just keeps getting better.

I've always been tickled by how the really young ones do that cute lip and tongue smacking thing. :)

She's going to be a heart breaker, we can already tell. I would like to point out that the only picture I didn't take turned out to be the blurry one. I would also like to point out baby taco:

What a cutie! That second picture needs to go in a frame on your desk!

Here in New England or at least RI, they call it the baby enchillada. Either way, learn how to make one because it will help settle her while she's so little. Wrap them up tight and warm and it's almost like being back in the womb.

In just a couple of months you'll marvel at how small she USED to be; at how you could hold her pretty much in the palm of your hand and length of your forearm. I used to walk mine around that way to calm her down (snug in her enchillada), but before long I realized I couldn't do that anymore because seemingly overnight she had outgrown my forearm!

First thing you need to teach her is how to kill a man with her bare hands. Or how to tie her shoes. I can't really remember.

Holding them at 3 a.m. when they are screaming for no apparent reason and every fiber of your being is demanding sleep is another story
And that's why being an aunt/uncle is so great.

Why is she shameless? You need to teach her shame. quickly. right after the bare handed killing lessons. I thing a noose or snare would be a better thing to teach her to tie.

Oh, and the most poignant memory I have of my first born is the day we came home from the hospital and he spent the afternoon sleeping on my bare chest as I lay on the couch. Congratulations. Cherish these days, they are very special.

Beautiful! I agree, you'll have to teach her how to hunt bears w/ nothing, but a pointy stick.

Thanks for all the kind words :) Honestly...I never thought of myself as a baby person. Neat from afar, but I've always just associated them with a high ick-factor. I suppose the fact that she smothered 3 lumberjacks and shived 2 girl scouts more than makes up for her explosive poops.

We've got our next one coming in May, hope it's just as cute as her.

And I know what you mean by explosive poops.

I finished wiping my daughter when she was about 2 months. I lifted up her bum to make sure I got everything cleaned off when I heard THE sound. It came flying at me almost in slow motion and I was able to dodge it like Neo in the Matrix.

At that moment she was like an Agent....and Agent of Doodie...:D
