Bicycle Mechanics - Is it possible to accurately determine headset stack height without disassembly....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

...of the fork from the frame? (threaded headset)
(Dear God, please prevent me from submitting stupid questions on BikeForums.)

Measure the length of the frame's head tube end to end. Then measure the overall length from the fork's crown race to the top of the headset's lock nut. If there are any spacers between the headset's top race and the locknut, measure them too.
Stack Height = Overall Length - (headtube length + height of any spacers).
And no, this is NOT a stupid question.
