Mountain Biking - Good ole' thumbshifters

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Can anyone out there help...
I'm searching high and low for a set of thumb shifters. I last had a pair of Suntour XC-Pro shifters which were fantastic, but got nicked along with the rest of my bike.
Having built up a new bike I just need a set of thumbies, but can I find them anywhere... can I bugger.
If anyone's got a pair of Shimano DX, XT II or Suntour XC-Pro thumbies lying around I would love to buy them off you. Drop us a line...
Cheers,
John.

Last time I cleaned out the Junk box at the shop, I pulled out about 3 pair that were in good shape. All got given to regular customers.
Check around your LBS and see if they have similar "Junk Boxes".

Unfortunately i have only a pair of DeoreDX Sti 7spd shifter/brake combo pair ...a deoreLX rear mech...all in superbcondition 1994 versions. :D:D:D
aebike.com sells the suntour thumbies. Also, I think you could rig up something similar to the forge-mtb design without paying their outrageous prices. $35 (USD) plus shipping from the UK for each mount not including the shifter. I'm thinking hose clamps and small sections of an old bar, MTB bar ends with the ends sheared off, etc. Not as pretty but just as functional.
Just talking about this (http://www.dirtragmag.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1227).
If you are going to run gears, make it thumbies!
Also, Rivendell has thumb shifters for cheap.

See if your LBS uses Hawley for a wholesale supplier. I've seen several sets of tumb shifters in thier catolouge.
I have two sets of DX thumbies for sale, and I do not know if I want to part with my XC Pro stuff yet. I have two rear der's a front der. and a set of thumbies for that. I recently sold a set of 7 speed XT thumbies but have a set of 6 speed XT thumbies for sale.
The thumbies Hawley sells are shimaNO tourney which is garbage at best.
