Road Bike Racing - Anyone racing the Frosty Toes race tomorrow?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Yeah, planning on it. Not ready for it, but planning on it.

When the hell does crit season start again?

Dunno, I've never done a crit. By the time they start I will be racing my mountain bike. CSlone, do you race for team Dayton? Also, what cat? My memory sucks!

sorry lowcel, i was gonna go, but i got talked into working the bike sale at my store, so no racing this weekend. savage hill and team dayton (cslone?) will probably be out in force so pace should be good. you're in 4's now, right? watch out for kippy, got a mean sprint and breakaway potential on the flats.

Yeah, gonna go with the 3/4's most likely. I doubt many of Dayton will be there, maybe 3-4 of us. It's a bit of a haul for a shorter race like this. I'm north of town, so it's only about 80 minutes from me.

As for crit season, it was more rhetorical. I hate road racing, as I do much better in crits. I just keep reminding myself that crit season is right around the corner. That gets me through the spring series. :D

Hmmm, it's only a little over three hours of driving (each way) for me. I wish I had road races within 80 minutes of my house. I'll be leaving my house around 8:00 am tomorrow morning. Think about me while you are setting around relaxing reading the paper tomorrow morning.

I'm still pretty weak so I'm going to be doing the 4/5 race (if they have it). I imagine I would get dropped from the 3/4 race pretty quick.

cslone - give me a yell if you see me tomorrow. I'll have my orange IF.

fly:yes - Wish you could be there. It's always nice to see a familiar face, especially when it comes to road racing.

Hell, 80 minutes is a far drive. I think the farthest I went last year was Ault Park in Cincy which is 65 or so minutes. :D

I'll probably be on the Team SL.

Not going to take part in the race, but it sure does have a kick ass name! :)

For the record, my wallet hates you and your close racing :p Although the fact that you live in Ohio is some concilation...

I counted 31 races between now and April that are within 90 minutes of my front door. How's that for Ohio? :D

Crit season "should" have more than that.

I just checked the weather for Croton, OH for todays race. Currently 12 degrees, feels like 3. At 1:00 for the start of the race it is going to be 29 and feel like 22 degrees with a 7 mph wind. Sounds like fun! I'm pretty sure it is going to be colder than it was last year, not quite as windy though.

I imagine this will decrease the number of racers though. :(

I thought about doing this one, but decided to head to Hueston Woods today to ride that course, as well as the Reily course.

Germantown is next week!

cslone - nice riding and chatting with you. As far as I know I will be seeing you at Germantown next week. Hopefully I don't get blocked by a crash and actually have a chance to sprint there. :D

Congrats on your finish! Oh, and nice bike too!

Hey LowCel, It was nice to meet you and others at the race. I'm Jamie, the only lady rider at the frosty toes.

I enjoyed the pain of the race and have rigistered for the race at Commercial Point this weekend. I learned a few more things. I managed to hang with the group I was riding with untill I ran out of leg on the long climb on the back side. I have a long ways to go.

Thanks for the advise.

Very nice to meet you as well. I haven't decided if I am going to do Commercial Point or Germantown next weekend. I'm going to have to hit mapquest and see which is the closest.

LowCel

I just checked mapquest and found out the distances.

Germantown is 199 miles each way. Commercial Point is 135 miles each way. It looks like I will be seeing you at Commercial point this weekend. :D

Commercial Point basicly is in my back yard. We might get rain though - but its going to be warmer than Sat.

Germantown is 23 miles from me and Commercial Point is 77, so I'll be at Germantown.

Good luck.

Thanks, I think I may try to hit both of them, haven't decided for sure yet.
