Been using the Maxxis foldable tires on our tandem for a couple years.
The Detonnator model and the Re-Fuse models is what we're currently using.
The Re-Fuse has a puncture resistant layer in it and proved itself on yesterday's ride.
Felt a thump and must have run over something with rear tire. . . checked it out and had a nearly 1/2-inch slice into the center of the tire with the underlayer showing through, but not bulging. Had about 10 miles to go, so let out a couple pounds of air and we were on our way. Stoker Kay asked me to take it a bit slower on the descent and kept it under 25 mph. Got home just fine.
Checking our log, we totaled 2,206 miles on the rear tire. Tire also had a few minor cuts of +/- 1/8" but none had penetrated through the casing.
The Detonnator model does not have a puncture resistant layer in it and we do get a few flats every so often. But so far, the Re-Fuse has 'refused' to flatten . . . quite the feat living in the AZ desert with all sorts of thorns, goatheads and the usual road side debris.

I don't know about anyone else, but it would make me a little nervous to ride on a tire called the "Detonnator." Seems like kind of an unfortunate name for a tire!

I do not recall how they actually spell it but there is one that at least phonetically is called die young!!!

Nice to hear about the Re-Fuse - I've recently put these (23mm) on my fixie (single, not tandem!) after getting lots of flats with generic skinwall 23mm tyres. Hard to know how a tyre will perform without putting a few thousand km on it.

A bit of an addendum to our folding tire story:
Put 37 miles on that new Re-Fuse rear tire on our tandem and got . . . a flat! A tiny shard of glass was the culprit. So much for not having had a flat on the previous Re-Fuse tire for 2206 miles!
Must admit some of the names on tires, and other stuff, can be puzzling: Asides from Detonnator and Re-Fuse tires have also ridden an Invulnerable that promptly got nicknamed 'vulnerable' as it died an early death.
