I have always cycled with a road/tourer/fixed set up, drop bars, sti's etc.
Last year I saw a Trek 7300 for sale and decided to give it a go. Put some 28 tyres on, mudgaurds and a rack andhave been using it for my commuting to and from work ever since.
The problem is I am so bored with the flatish bars that are on the bike and want to change them. I like the look of on-one mungo's but have doubts about the gear and brake levers fitting.
Does anyone have any recomendations? I dont want to change the gear/brake levers, just the bars.

Trekking/butterfly bars

+1 for the trekking bars. I have them on my 7300 and love them! Nashbar has them for cheap too!

how do you like your 7300? specifically, how do you like the shifters and derailers?

i'm not particularly happy with the sram components. and my bottom bracket is squeaking. i rode home (from the bike shop after getting a tune up) in a down pour. i'm thinking i've got water in there.

I really like my 7300, I have an Xtracycle on the back of it so it is my "station wagon" of bikes. I am waiting for the components to break and then I will upgrade to some better components. I just had a tune up and now they work pretty good.

I mostly like it, once I got it used to the riding position. Had this one sine May 06 and everything is running well.
I changed the tyres for some Conti gator 28's, fitted a rack and full length mud guards. Basically I only use the bike for my commute to work, and the odd shopping trip to the supermarket with the panniers.
Once I have some spare cash I will change the suspension forks for a set of carbon touring/cross forks. The extra weight of the suspension forks isn’t justified for me as I only use the bike on the road.
