I have an injury to my ankle/achiilies area and am trying biking. I also have sore calf muscles. Today I used the recumbent bike but was wondering if people thought this bike or the upright would be better for this type of injury. I also felt it was less of a workout then the upright stationary bike. Does the recumbent burn less calories then the upright?
Why don't you just get medical help from a system with a good track record, then decide, ok???
I have both and I don't think they're any different in regards to ankle movement or stress.
The main reasons folks ride recumbents is because of back/neck or groin problems.
Personally, I prefer the upright. I apparently use a lot of body english when I ride because it feels weird not being able to shift your weight around on the recumbent.
