Not sure what an avitatar is, but I think you can use an animated gif.

It's typo for 'avitar' wise guy. :)

Im getting every atempt at using an animated gif as my avitar blocked... even remotely hosted ones. What gives?

No... I've tried unsuccessfully to insert small animated GIFs that are well under the size limit. But there's some floating around, so it appears to me that they used to be allowed but are no longer allowed. Not completely sure, though.

Some of the animated avatars here are really creepy. Plus they give me migraines. I've got animation turned off on my home PC for that reason. Very disturbing visually.
