It should be more fun than I can possibly say... :)

Just wanted to brag.

I'm sitting in for a three song set with some friends at their gig tonight. Falling in and Out of Love/Amie, Ghost Riders in the Sky and Simple Man are on the agenda. :) Don't try this on American Idol, kids. :p

Alright, here's the report!

It started off with the owner of the theatre coming out, grabbing a mic, and announcing the whole event. He said that it would start off with a Prince (or any Prince character/association) costume contest. There were a couple Lisas, one Lisa-Wendy hybrid, a number of Princes, and just some kid fans. The owner would introduce the contestant, then ask them to say something "Princely." My favorite was this girl who said "You need to purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetoka."

It then went to a salon of a number of his music videos, starting with his early stuff and chronologically progressing to his later stuff. Among the videos played were "Kiss," "Cream" which was just too hot, "Little Red Corvette," and "Raspberry Beret." I know there were more videos in there, but I can't remember which ones there were.

After the videos came the video. They put the words up on the screen for all the major songs (including the music videos) so everyone could sing along. People started to get up on the stage in front of the screen during Prince's encore in the movie. The theatre had purple streamers and balloons coming down during the title song. It was just too awesome. Everyone was standing up, waving lighters or cell-phones in the air.

Ah, it was one of the few times I haven't felt like a musical outcast!
