about a week ago go i got hit by a car while riding my new bike, its a carrera subway 2 '06 ( dont know if it means much to you guys there, its a Halfords brand, uk based company). its basicly a 26" wheel hybrid with basic tektro cable disc brakes. i was lucky enought to only get the front wheel damaged (writen of more like), rim gone, spokes gone, the hub survived without any visable damage, and the disc brake is completly fine and tire and tube are fine too. so now after using the busses again which i seriously hate i decided to get the wheel replaced and continue enjoying my bike again. i wana get something of a reasonable quality without spendin **** loadz of money, up to £75 (aint got much money) . what i know about the wheel is that its a front, 26", double wall rim, 6 bolt disc, 32 spoke, quick realease. the disc brake im definetly keeping but the hub im not sure about, its very basic. so im not sure if i should buy complete wheel, build around my old hub or build the wheels up myself from scrach. btw i got all necesary tools available as i have use of a bike workshop. so if anybody has any advice for me please write. thanx:)

It's unlikely your spokes are damaged, for what it's worth. You could hang them all from a level wire and see that they are all still the same length.

You could just find a rim with the same ERD and have a shop build it up for you ($25-$50?).

thanx for the sugestion. i fink you're rite, the spokes do seem to be fine, they are not perfect, about 1/2mm variation between them. and i have no problem in building the wheel myself because i work in a bike shop (only started out tho). could you recomend any good rims i could use, what features should i look out for? or if i wanted to change spokes anyway, what ones are good for street riding?
