Alt Bike Culture - most recent completed project

this is my most recent project done, its a gravity speed bike. there are ALOT of mods for a bike like this to help it go up to 75 mph down paved mountain roads, ill leave it at that cuz it would take a long time to list it all, take a look and you'll see alot of em, and theres alot that ya cant see, waddy think? fast eddie outty

How do the tires hold up at those speeds?

the wheel set up is upgraded a bit, the rims are double wrapped in velox heat resistant rim tape, the tubes are thick walled - or thorn resistant - tubes, and the tires hold up to 110/120 psi. i air up my tires to around 15 psi less than their max to allow for air expansion due to heat from rim braking at those speeds. that bike has caged ball bearings in the hubs, my race bike used Crupi sealed machine bearings. i also do some mods to the front fork and - use dropout savers on front and rear. it may take a while longer to get my own bike back together, but ill post it when i get it done. fast eddie outty

why not a banana seat for more tuck options?
What brand tires are you using?
Why not disc brakes?

ill put up a few pics of different "seating arrangements" i've tried, the only reason ive stopped using bannanna seats is because i dont like the sissy bar attached to my rear axl. it makes it a pain to switch out wheels (which sometimes has to be done quickly in an emergency at a race) plus i just dont think there should be anyhing on the rear axl if you can make it so. the black bike w/ the shocl fork on it has tabs welded to the seat stay to hold the sissy bar and foot pegs leaving the rear axl free of those stresses. the bike w/ the windgaurd is fun to ride but i dont ride "jockey style" anymore because i steer the bike w/ the knee rests you see mounted to the black bike, or the knee pegs outside of the barbells on the new completion. disc brakes just arent necessary in my opinion. v-brakes can lock up the wheel w/ ease at 60 mph and they easier to maintenence and adjust than discs, plus no rotor to worry about bending in crashes or transit. right now im using odyssey 110 psi max road tires with thick walled, thorn resistant tubes. higher psi is more speed! the rims are double wrapped w/ heat resistant rim wrap to counter heat expansion in the tube from rim braking at such high speed, as is "butterflying" the brakes when setting up for a turn. hope that helps and good luck on keeping your title, can you post a link to a site that tells about that race? thanx, fast eddie outty

The Tour de Bomb is the highlight of zoobomb's minibikewinter. It is the regular zoobomb race, but the only one of the year with trophies. minibikewinter happens every year on presidents day weekend. Here is the route and a pic of the winners:

It's not a gravity bike race, but we use modded/freaked minibikes and hit some pretty amazing speeds for windy residential streets at night! It is all dowhill so a few folks have brought out gravity machines, but the couple not-so-steep sections make it hard for them to compete.

here is my steed, although I'm working on one with a better tuck position and a fairing!

What the hell is that thing under the down tube?

that pipe welded to the down tube was filled with lead birdshot to make it heavier, believe it or not when i flew with that bike to california, they didnt even blink at it before they waived it through at the airport. they did however take off my necklase to look inside the locket....security.

Love the bikes, really different designs.

ya mount em head first like a cafe racer, ya can ride jockey style (no knee rests) or w/ knee rests. i use knee rests which is also how i steer them.
