the royal 'we'

I found these forums a couple weeks ago while searching for any fellow cyclists in my area, then I finally joined yesterday when I needed help figuring out a headset issue.
I am 21 years old, and I've been into cycling since I was about 13. It's always been more of a hobby/utility sort of thing... I never got into competition and thus never saw the point of having fancy, expensive equipment. I tend to prefer the older technologies and vintage bikes, since it's what I've always dealt with. I especially like fixed-gear bikes, something I first tried a few years ago when I found the parts at a co-op, and I built a conversion out of an old Huffy frame. Now I have a much better Fuji conversion, along with an old Raleigh 3-speed.
I live in Wauchula, FL right now, having just recently moved back down here from Tallahassee when I finished college. Up there, I got many of my friends into cycling and was the resident bike mechanic among my circle, though I had only recently started to find many other fellow bike geeks.
Down here in central Florida it's a wasteland, though. I don't know anybody else who rides a bike regularly... a few weekenders on Walmart MTBs but nobody else who's car-free and certainly no other fixed gears. There isn't even a decent bike shop within about 50 miles.
So here I am. If I can't find anyone local to share my interest, I'll entertain myself online.
