Cycling news reporting big George has to have surgery on his wrist and is out of the spring classics:(
My respect for George increases every time I hear something about him. He did all that work for Levi
and now he is gonna miss his races. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

He also got back into the pack that didnt slow, bridged up, then led tempo for Discovery to save the race for Levi. All with a broken distal radius bone. He has my respect for sure!

PS Go George and have a speedy recovery.

I heard that the recovery time would be 4-6 weeks. What is the time line for the spring classics? I can't imagine GH missing the classics especially after that epic effort on stage six.

George gives everything in support of the team. I hope they do not hold him in reserve just do he can ride pint for Basso on the TDF.

i feel like nobody on that team deserves support as much as Hincapie does. He's like the Jens Voigt of Discovery.

Props to George, but I think George was just repaying Levi for helping him out at the at the U.S National Championships.

Cycling news is reporting that he will not be racing the classics but I could see him riding support for Vladimir Gusev.

"..... and will miss out on the Spring Classics he had targeted this season. "

I think he'll miss the classics but may come around at the end of the season for worlds, assuming he regains good form.

I predict George wills himself to a quick recovery and does the classics.

He returned from Surgery before today's stage.

The doctor could have put it in a cast, but then you wonder if it's going to heal correctly,. They chose surgery to have more control over how it heals.

he was bummed this morning.

Heal fast Big George. I hope he's well for Paris-Roubaix. He's due to win it.

Wow you'd think after all the sacrifices this guys made in his career the cycling gods would cut him some slack. Well maybe they'll give him some payback by letting him be the team leader at the Dalphine.

The classics, especially cobbled ones like P-R, can't be good on a wrist, can they?

He should be nicknamed Hard-luck George. Last year's P-R wreck, the wreck at the end of the ENECO Tour when he lost the overall due to bonus points to the guy whose wheel he clipped in the final sprint....

His effort on Friday in California was epic. Big props to him as a loyal teammate.

...the dude did HOW MANY miles with a broken wrist?
Oh...and not only does he get back on, but then goes to the front to ride tempo for the team?!

I mean, I love Basso, but I've gotta say after watching the ToC, George is right there at the top of my list now in terms of respect for what a man can do on a bike.

After the retirment of LA, Big George became my natural favorite. I was hoping he'd be in Landis' place last year. Things would have been different. He is getting old enough, I fear that will soon be a pipe dream for his fans.

No way he's in race shape to compete at Paris Roubaix. It's only 6 weeks away, so even if he gets on the trainer in a few days, and gets on the road in a few weeks, he can't be ready. And if you're not in shape to compete why would you risk reinjury.

He is a class rider for sure. I thought after last year's PR steerer tube issue, the spring classics would finally shine down on big George. How many "next years" does he have left?

How the hell do you ride with a fracture like that? I have had it with both my wrists and theres no way I could continue riding.

^all the drugs in his system?

At least that would be the answer of all those people here that kept telling me that they all do it when I said I believed Floyd.
