Any experience with Jamis bikes?
The Aurora in particular?

I'm looking to get an inexpensive (b/c it's a 2nd bike) steel framed bike that can handle fenders and a rear rack (no more than 10-15 pounds). I also want a relaxed geometry (more upright riding position).

I've been riding a 2002 Aurora for over a year. I turned 30, realized I was woefully unfit and bought the Jamis to commute. I lost alot of weight and am now an avid cyclist. I recently purchased a Specialized allez elite. In comparison the Aurora is MUCH more relaxed. Now that I've had a few weeks to get used to the Specialized (which has a fairly long top tube) the Aurora seems a little cramped, too upright. I may get a longer stem to more comfortably use it as a rainy day/winter ride. I can say that I put this bike through a lot of abuse and it is still going strong. It survived a three day trip up the C&O canal with non-stop rain, city streets daily, country lanes on occaision, it even suvived my maintenance attempts. I did break the front derailer, but that was my fault. The wheels needed truing often, but then I was 200 lbs and the roads around here are awful. Great basic bike.

I have not had experience with the Aurora but rode a Quest for over a year. Very good steel bike that was very good to ride. It was light and responsive. The carbon fork gave it a soft ride and for the 1k price you couldn't beat it. Never had one problem with it where it had to go to the shop. I think they are very well built bikes. Only reason I am not riding it now is because I upgraded to a ti bike.
