Foo - I'm BAAAAAACK!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well, my trip to Chattanooga went well (other than running out of gas on I 65! The d@mn gauge stuck at 1/4 tank!). Weather was fairly nice and I got what I needed accomplished I got to see some old friends and looked at UTC for consideration as well as discussing a possible fellowship (I HOPE!). Not really a touristy trip though and didn't have nearly enough time to do what all I wanted to do. :( I had almost forgotten how much I missed the South, now I'm homesick again for Tennessee, in spite of being a native Hoosier. I guess I am a southern boy at heart!:D

By the way, my van gets better mileage than I thought! 482 miles on 18 gallons of gas! This was averaging 75+ mph! ~27 mpg rounded to the nearest gallon!

Just down I 75 from ya, Chattanooga! I'm ghoing home as soon as I can figure it out too, either after I get my degree or get transferred to UTC, whichever comes first. I miss the mountains already!:(

After seeing your winter pictures, I understand that emotion.
There's some good riding around there. Last year I did the 3 State 3 Mountain Challenge (http://www.chattbike.com/events/3_state/3stchlng.htm); I'm thinking about doing it again.

Indiana is in the midwest. But the last time I was there the phrase y'all and sody were all too common.

Wow Chattanooga. Hills and bugs. Yeee-ha. Noisiest place I've ever been (due to insects at night in summer).

I fully understand. As a native Texan living in Oklahoma I have a hard time admitting to the fact--so I tell people that I live in the Texas North Annex.

Stage 4 of the Tour De Georgia goes from Chickamauga to Lookout Mountain in TN.
You do realize Chattanooga is just 2 hours from Atlanta? And you are on the right side of the state to travel to the Silver Comet Trail. :D

Welcome back! I really did miss your posts!
Welcome Back Tom! I was starting to fear that you were involved in the Anna Nicole paternity pool for awhile.

Yep, I know, on Apr 16! I'm trying to figure out a time schedule to get back down there now for the TdG!
Silver Comet runs from Atlanta to Birmingham, doesn't it? :D

Silver Comet from Atlanta to Birmingham - yes and no. You see, it was a railroad line running from Atlanta to Birmingham. They are gradually converting it to a bike trail. Right now, from Atlanta to Rockmart, GA. That's about 35 miles one way, 70 roundtrip. Check the site. (http://silvercomet.tripod.com/)
