I have hopes of purchasing this bike off an online ad for little money. The seller is very vague on what it is. He only states that it is an old English 3 speed. It sounds like it has cottered cranks with a bad spindle that he can't get a replacement for. I'm thinking 60's or 70's era Robin Hood, Hercules, etc. It doesn't look like a Sports to me. I also see that it's rear rack matches the frame, Raleigh style. I am really curious about that saddle. I see springs and large rivets. Brooks? Wright? Any guesses? I'm awaiting an email response from the seller.

Any help identifying this one would be appreciated.
Thanks

This is the only image I have. I know it's bad.

It's really hard to tell, but it doesn't look English to me. I'm guessing something made in Taiwan. That could be a leather sprung saddle, but vinyl ones are riveted, too. I hope you get to see it in person before making an offer!

I asked what brand the bike is and if there is a name on the saddle. No reply yet...

I forgot to inquire whether it has a S/A or Shimano hub and shifter. I'm also afraid ask too many questions too soon.

Ask all the questions you want up front, if they dont answer or get angry well then you know that they are hiding something, also, if they get angry, or dont answer, dont bid! that will save you the trouble of dealing with a deadbeat :)
