Looks like an Astra, bottom of the barrel French bike-boom. Never saw one with Reynolds, but yeah, looks like might be Nervex.

Check the rear dropouts, too. In general, Stamped = lower, Forged = higher.

It may just be the camera angle but, the fork rake looks interesting.

There aren't many of those around anymore which makes it unique (IMHO)...

If it's your size, I'd go for it, fix it up or convert to fixed/ss, and ride it:)

It looks a little better than bottom of the barrel. Maybe from a nice barrel.

To answer the title question, no they aren't the classic Nervex Pro lugset, but look similar to them. They may be another style of Nervex or a Prugnat lug in the same vein...I've seen that distinctive notching in the front of the headlugs before, but never looked into who made them. Looks like at least a mid-grade bike, see if you can decipher what's left of the tubing decal on the seat tube. Might be 531 main tubes, at least...the Huret Alvit RD is a bit of a lump, but then it has that SL 93 and what looks like forged dropouts, so...worth cleaning it up and investigating further.

Forged: cast or formed with hot metal.

Stamped: sheet steel stamped cookie cutter like.

Yes, I agree, mid-level bike. Best Astra I ever saw! I always found the Hurets kinda cluncky shifty, but the French seemed to love em!

maybe, but definitely weaker. Still Campy made some (Gran Sport?) as well as most track ends...so I wouldn't ALWAYS discount a frame with stampies...tho a FRENCH bike with stampies?...:)

That looks like quite a decent bike. It's certainly not one to kick to the kerb.

That bike looks like it's been neglected. I'd examine it verry carefully before dropping anything on it.

I mean I only paid $26 for it so that is worth it for the stronglight 93 and Ideale saddle.

It's got the same lugs as the Moto (somebody who knows Nervex should tell us what those are called) and some other details jibe, too. I still say examine the remains of the decal for any mention of 531. For $26 you have already scored a bargain, but it *may* get even better...BTW: research says that Astra was a private label made by Motobecane for an importer in Yakima, WA

YOU can read that decal? Better eyes than I have...further research indicates that these MAY be Nervex Pro lugs that Motobecane (and therefore Astra) just reworked in this style as their "signature". Not 100% sure, but likely to be true. Next guess is that Moto would not have used these lugs on anything LESS than straight-guage 531, so... clean it up, fix it up and RIDE this puppy!

Nervex made many lug patterns, so did Dubois. I do not think Prugnaut. A case of where the look of the frame surpasses the components.

Just got it. Straight Gauge 531 frame only. However, stronglight model 93 plus Ideale 90!!!!!!!! all this for $26 plus shipping......... grand total $90 well worth it?

Oh yeah, well worth it! Clean that puppy up, especially the Ideale saddle: if it's not cracking I'd use mild straight soap SUDS (minimal water) like Ivory or Murphy's Oil Soap, concentrate on the green crud around the rivets, and dry it immediately. Wait a day and then apply a coat of Proofide to the top and bottom, check the tension...avoid the impulse to do ANYTHING ELSE to the leather. I'd clean the whole bike, repack everything and ride it as-is, except for maybe a different RD and stem (that FR stem might be dicey).

Look on the bottom of the bottom bracket. Many Nervex lugs are stamped with ... (surprise) "NERVEX".
