how does one build a dirt jump? I'm hearing hay bales covered with packed dirt, sprayed down with water? size would be 5-7' high.

tell some kids you know of a good spot to build jumps.... put shovels in the area.... in 3 days you will have jumps!!!!

never in my life have I had the pleasure of hitting something like that. not even when I dirt biked.
usually just ragged dirt banks, the cliff at the gravel pit or some dubious mound the local shovel kids made.

Our dirt jump areas consist of a single trail with about 4 small jumps all in a row! Too far apart to be a rhythm (sp?) section, so you have to jump, land, pedal, jump...repeat!

I have just learned to hit two in a row but it is a pain because the only bikes I have are my FR and DH rigs and the suspension just soaks everything up and it is difficult to keep momentum. Soon as I get my ht finished it should be easier. Once I get it built I will get some pics.
