Foo - Socks: Yea or Nay?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Biking aside, what is your sock-wearing behavior?
I've been a sock fan all my life, but I've been wondering if I really need them. I'd like some opinions from the free-footed on why I should/should not ditch the cotton tubulars for some stinky sock-puppets.
I have bad athlete's foot from jogging in the wet conditions. One of my toes is split and freakin' hurts like hell.
(yes socks please)

Socks at almost all times. Certainly whenever I have shoes on. My feet sweat. A lot. If I don't wear socks, even with sandals, I quickly feel like I am walking in my own private puddles.

Yeah, wikipedia says that a pair of feet gives off about half a pint (250 mL) of sweat per day.
I may have to stick with socks and shoes. :D

Socks, I even wear them to bed once in awhile. Socks and cycling, always. Besides, I take pride in some of my cycling socks. My flag socks of California, USA, France and particularily my beer stein socks. My very favorite. Often in public with shorts in warm weather, I wear by cycling socks. Cycling is always a part of me. Love to wear by socks with bikes stitched atop the ankle socks.
As to the funcitioning of socks. They help control smell, and cut down on chaffing. Why would one not like socks. Besides, feet are not the most beautiful attribute of human anatomy?

almost always, unless i'm wearing sandals.
Socks, f@*k yeah!
White cotton crews for 2/3 of the year. In shorts season, its either sandal/flip-flops (no socks of course) or sneakers w/ cuffed crews or footie socks.
Black knee socks, Birks & knobby legs hurt the eyes!

I went completely barefoot for three years, except for trips to the doctors. But now that I'm wearing shoes again, I do wear socks. Sometimes wear them at night to help keep my feet from cramping.
If I wear girlie shoes, I either wear hose, trouser socks (if I'm wearin' slacks), or nothing, depending on which shoe it is.
Sometimes working in the yard in summer, I just put on an old pair of beater sneakers, no socks.

Socks socks and socks....my feet are fugly as hell, so there's no need to display them to the world.
I can't stand a sweaty foot in a sneaker. <shiver>

Don't worry, they're too busy being repulsed by your breath to notice your feet. :D

Life socks without em.
There are two times when it's not okay to wear socks. When wearing sandals and when not wearing shoes. Otherwise it's socks all the way. The people I know that avoid socks have the worst smelling feet and the jankiest looking feet.

I would try to match the pale blue, or in this instance, match shirt color, unless a white shirt is worn. I try to match shirt if not wearing a jacket. Try to pick up a tie color if wearing jacket. As a last resort, I will match pant color.

if it's not flip-flops, I wear socks with shoes. Even if it's the anklet 'invisible' ones, always wear socks... I'll tend to wear my cycling socks all the time (unless I'm wearing dress shoes, and even then I'll wear DeFeet Blaze or Woolie Boolie). Cotton and sweaty feet don't mix....
Socks and sneakers are great when the temps are cool.
When it's warm, gimme some sandlas --- and hold the socks, Puhleeze.

Here, pie will recharge anything known to man! Not sure what color socks to wear to eat pie though. Do you match crust or filling?

I only wear full socks when I wear shoes and long pants. Short or no-show socks with short pants. No socks any other time.

I only wear shoes when it's raining hard and/or I have to attend some type of meeting or conference.
Any other time seems to be sandal time!
