Alt Bike Culture - Building or Riding
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'll start by saying that I never got into the alt bike thing until lately. So, my question is, do most of you build your bikes to ride or just build because you like building? A lot of the creations I see here really look like they took a lot of skill to make.

most def. build to ride. i figure form has to compliment function, not interfere with it. i like to build bikes that turn heads, but at the same time are good for a jaunt ya know?

Build to ride--that's what seperates rodbikes from lowriders.With lowriders it's about creating ART---they don't really have to be radeable to be cool,but rodbikes are about creating form or a new style.Nutting wrong with lowriders but I like my bikes to remain bikes.---and yes---lots of work and skill in the work by this group,good tips and advise too,which always raises the bar of skill---sam

+1 on the skill. Being a roadie, an old one at that. Most roadies just buy the frame without any mods and start slapping parts on. Over here I see lots of customizing and fabrication. You don't see many posts on the Road forum on welding.
