Triathlon - Softride company is for sale

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

All of the bikes at Softride's website are out of stock so I inquired why. They are selling the bicycle manufacturing portion of the business. Why they have always struggled to sell bikes? The beam is a great concept and I ride one myself.
Has anyone heard who may be buying Softride?
Everyone wants their bike to be UCI compliant, even those who never race UCI or race at all. Also, the fit for Softrides isn't really clear, the headtubes are huge, the top tubes seem short, saddle adjustment isn't clear. I think Titanflex's booms make a lot more sense to me.

I always thought the Zipp 2001's looked much much cooler.

I almost bought the TitanFlex over the Softride... Doh!
I want a Titanflex. The Transition though, the monocoque one just looks goofy.

I agree :D... but I'm biast toward Zipp to begin with. ;)

I don't think they have done a great job marketing their product. They did a great job with their tri bikes but did not seem to realize that their other bikes (e.g., Solo, IT) made great commuter bikes. I say this because I just bought a late model Solo and had to creatively rig up a bracket to attach my rear rack. 80-90% of the commuters I see are riding mtbs that are slower, heavier, and even less comfortable than a softride road bike. I have a lot of friends who ride mtbs to work laugh when they saw my bike and then they tried it and couldn't believe how comfortable and fast it is.

thats a shame about softride... BUT we still have carbonsports (of lightweight fame) and they seem to be doing well, they sponsor a lot of athletes.. maybe thats where softride couldve made more impact?
