Foo - Thieves are an odd bunch...

Well I got up this morning and went down to my truck on my way to work to find the window on the passenger side rolled down. So I looked inside and found both seats moved up and of course my subwoofer and amplifier were gone. The center console was pulled apart and all over the seats. Thankfully they left my Advair inhaler as well as everything that was in the center console, minus a voided out credit card that I used as an ice scraper. Well I was looking around and it turns out that they snagged my cd case as well and my camelback. This wouldnt be so strange except they left my helmet, and shoes and my JoeBlow air pump as well as my oakleys that were sitting on the dash. Well naturally all that stuff will be gone as of today and I have learned a valuable lesson of not keeping anything in my truck from now on. My question is how they got in to my truck without breaking the glass?? Any suggestions?

slim jim is most obvious answer. have you looked at that door carefully? someone I know was broken into and the thieves just stabbed a screwdriver into the door near the lock and used it to move the lever or whatever mechanism is inside door.. only left a small hole in door. at least that was the theory as I recall.

Haha, most likely a slim jim, takes about 15 seconds for most cars. I don't how well on newer cars but anything from 2000 and earlier will be a snap

Subwoofer/Amp : obvious choiuce for thieves...those sell nicely to fellow hoodlums

Center console: people put more valuables there than most would think...as well as decent amounts of money in the form of coins

CD Case: again, sells nicely to fellow hoodlums...plus they now have a CD case.

Camelback: something to hold the goods in.

I've seen worse....I lost a window because some idiot wanted a #2 pencil...I know I've said this one a million + 9 times, but it still annoys me to no end that someone would smash out a window to take a damn #2 pencil.....


edit: get a slim-jim guard installed in your door, and next time you install a stereo make sure the amp and box are BOLTED in with security bolts.

Someone broke into my Escort and stole my 9 year old stereo, a genuine heap of crap Clarion that didn't even play CD's well anymore. They left my checkbook, four FRS radios, my GPS, about 100 CDs in a CD case, and a bunch of old mail (mostly old bills that I pay online) that could have been used together to assemble almost everything they needed to steal my identity.

Same thing happened to me, but the door wouldn't lock, so it was an obvious thing. My radio was stolen along with 75 cents or something like that. They left the pennies, which was kind of funny. My radio probably didn't make them more than $25, but it cost me $500 to get everything fixed.

That's what I get for living in a cheap apartment, I guess.

Everyone I know who's had their car stereo stolen, their car has been at a cheap apartment complex (with a super corny name like "Whisper Hills Courtyards") or at a mall, they seem like the hotspots around here...

At least they stole your cds. When my house in OZ was broken into they didn't take them. I must listen to crap music.

One of my friends had her guitar and CD's stolen from her car this week, but they left her purse and ipod. Seriously, these guys must be really high.

well the door is the only possible way they could have broken into your car. Next time, go and ask car mechanic to put some kind of .....cant recall what its called but it prevents the thieves from being able to pick your car door. Thank god no one was hurt

My boss walks in today and tells how on his way to work he noticed one of his neighbor's Cadillac Escalades (yes two of them) were both on blocks with all of the wheels gone. He's going to have a really bad morning. But apparently the guy isn't exactly hurting for money (if the two luxury SUVs didn't tip that off) and has several other motor vehicles to get to and from work in.
